Common interview questions for Concierge Jobs

Concierge Jobs

Are you interested in concierge jobs? It's never too early to begin thinking about the interview process. Here we take a look at some common interview questions and the best way to answer them...

Tell me a little about yourself.
This is a common opening question in interviews - especially in interviews for positions like concierge, where personality counts for so much. However, don't fall into the trap of discussing your entire life history. Prepare a short (two to three minute long) spiel that sums up your professional experience and what you are looking for in a future career.

Can you talk us through your employment history?
Employers know that hospitality tends to have a high turnover rate, and they are interested in finding out the reason why you left previous jobs. They don't want to invest time and money training a concierge only for them to leave in six months' time. Briefly describe the responsibilities of your role and the reasons why you moved on to the next one - putting a positive gloss on events if necessary. However, always be 100% truthful about your past employment - it only takes a quick phone call to get caught out.

What do you think makes a good concierge?
This is a trick question. The employer seems to be asking you to put yourself in the position of a hotel guest and describe what you would like to see in a concierge. However, the best way to answer this question is to put yourself in the hotel manager's position and describe what they would like to see in a concierge - for example, building rapport with guests to maximise chances that they will return.
